composed by Cameron Cundiff using US Borders

Imagined Location is a repository of tools that allow for user generation and alteration of geographic representation.  These tools highlight the rich, complex visual language of aerial photography and satellite imagery and encourage the examination and manipulation of natural, political, and societal borders, patterns, and constructs.  This interaction, in turn, questions the relationship between this imagery, its practical representation in mapping, and resulting cultural effect on geographic perception.

The tools can be accessed through the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. Interact with each tool using a mouse. Each one is different. Explore them by hovering over the geographic imagery or by clicking and dragging sections. If the map includes a Input Box, type a location and click "Go!". If you would like to share your new locations, click here to find out how.

Some of the Imagined Location tools have also been installed in physical space. Check out the Map Reveal Installations here.
